Idol Worship

We’ve been a little lax in our American Idol viewing in the past few seasons. We got into it last year when sexy Chris Daughtry started to win, and then felt both a little let down and a little justified when Taylor Hicks won.

But this season we have TiVo, and that changes everything. We tuned in last night after watching The Hills (seriously, how can Spencer treat Heidi that way, and why does she let him?) and watched as two hometown women made the cut to be on the show.

gina_glocksen2_15.jpgNaperville native Gina Glockson finally made her dream. She’s auditioned three times and made it to Hollywood twice. She’s pretty rockin’, we like her. She’s not your typical Idol, she’s got presence and a down-to-earth quality about her that we admire. Plus, she didn’t let herself get steamrolled like poor Bailey did with the wonder twins. She stuck up for herself when singing with Latina Hottie Perla who couldn’t keep up with the vocals.

lesliezy62_15.jpgChicago also is home to Leslie Hunt. We’re actually surprised Leslie made it in the final 24. Is it us, or does she seem a little … whacked? Something about her just put us off a little, she's so affected when she sings, it made it hard to watch her. She’s in a band here called Mark Twang, we’ve never heard of them, you?

chris-sligh2_15_07.gifAn American Idol post just wouldn’t mean anything without mentioning the underdog idol, Chris Sligh. Way to go Chris, Chicagoist is behind you, all the way. Oh, and we’re behind our hometown girls too (good luck Chris!).
