Weekend Jaunts

We are guessing it is the weather and lack of activity, but we’ve been actively searching for good food-related events for the past month or so. This week is no different. We've also got dancing and book swapping, so get on it.
- We can’t stress enough how excited we are about the SwapSimple live swap. Out with the old and in with the new at the spacious Mercury Café. While you are there, take advantage of the free WIFI and incredible cookies. You will basically trade your old DVDs, video games, books, and CDs for tickets and use those tickets to get new stuff. Anything not taken will be donated to the Children’s Memorial Hospital.
- Sonotheque is unleashing a barrage of DJs on you tonight. This Dark Wave Disco event is from 9 p.m. – 3 a.m. Uffie, DJ Feadz, Trancid, Mark Gertz, and C-Mass will all bring you some electro in celebration of the BPM Magazine release. Tickets are $15; free Svedka Vodka from 9 p.m. – 10 p.m. should make up for that.
- Earlier in the week we focused on Andersonville’s Swedish roots, and now we hear about the Wikstrom’s moving sale! Granted, they are only moving a block, but being the kind Swedes they are, they would rather sell it to you cheap than carry it down the street. The sale is at 5247 N. Clark and is today from noon – 7 p.m. and tomorrow from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.
