Museum Party

74.jpgWe just wanted to make sure that everyone, far and wide, knew that it is Museum Campus Discount Week, and that means you can go to three of the city's finest cultural institutions F-R-E-E free.

Obviously, there are a lot of people who go to the museums without discounts or free days, but we know there are plenty of people like us who can't really afford to splurge on a day at the museum when it costs upwards of $27.50 (we're lookin' at you, Shedd). So, if you cannot fit trips to museums into your family's budget (or, also have somewhat mixed-up priorities), now's your chance. All this week the institutions at Museum Campus — the Shedd, the Adler Planetarium and the Field Museum — are free. The Shedd will also offer discounts to its Oceanarium and Wild Reef.

This happens a few times a year, so if you can't make it before it ends on the 23rd, check out the websites of each institution for the next opportunity to take advantage of free days/weeks. And then go hog wild.

Update!:
We thought that the discount days this week were only at the locations at the Museum Campus, but we were oh-so-wrong! You should also put it in your planner to get to the Museum of Science and Industry on your list of places to visit if you can tomorrow (or its other free days) and the Art Institute until the 21st. Our apologies for the omission — but you should still go hog wild.
