07_02_24_oscar.jpgPerhaps it is the image of Jennifer Hudson walking down the red carpet at the Academy Awards, but we've been getting inundated with talk of the event. The barrage has had its affect though, we have some Oscar related events for you this weekend, well except for one that involves vintage beer drinking, but we all need a break some time. We are all about gluttony and package deals this weekend, enjoy!

  • We would suggest taking a jog in the morning, but for $30 you can sit at the AMC River East Theater, 322 E. Illinois, all day and see the five movies up for Best Picture. You heard right, Babel" (11 a.m.), "The Queen" (1:45 p.m.), "The Departed" (3:45 p.m.), "Letters from Iwo Jima" (7 p.m.) and "Little Miss Sunshine" (9:45 p.m.). No need to worry about sustenance, they have you covered with free refills on large popcorn and large drinks.
  • Not up for drinking Dr. Peppers all day? Head over to Delilahs, 2771 N. Lincoln, where you can pay $20 and spend six hours trying selections for the over 80 beers they will have on hand. The annual Vintage Beer Fest runs from noon - 6 p.m.
  • Finally, the big day. While general admission is $60, Park West, 322 W. Armitage, is throwing an Oscar party that sounds appetizing. "Fabulous passed hors d'oeuvres (6:00 PM - 8:00 PM);
    complimentary wine, beer and specialty cocktails during the evening." The event will be shown on 24 monitors.
