You Just Got Owned by Your Grandfather on Your Wii

After fighting World War II, ending The Cold War, and living the American Dream, the greatest generation is once again aiming to show up the current generation of out-of-shape kids. While the kids thought they had video games locked down, gramps is now training to embarrass you at family get togethers.
In Lincolnshire, the Sedgebrook retirement community has set up a Nintendo Wii in the clubhouse lounge. The community is holding a bowling tournament on Sunday that already has 20 residents signed up. The community did not say how many of the tournament entrants are actually grandkids who all of the sudden decided that they really want to go see Grandpa.
Nintendo has touted the system as being for all ages of gamers and not just the standard 18- to 35-year-old “core gamers.” Most of the Wii Sports games require little to no button pressing or configurations to learn. At the Lincolnshire retirement community, the average age is 77, obviously demonstrating that Nintendo has succeeded in winning over the not-so-typical video gamer.
Even though Chicagoist is a bit sore from playing Wii Sports for about a month straight, we still think it would be fun to show up to play against some of these seniors. Though it scares us that many of the seniors claim to have bowled in real life, and know a little something about putting “English” on the ball. Don Hahn, who claims to have bowled in several real tournaments, sounds like a ringer.
Where would our street cred go if we lost in video games to our elders?
