Chicago Sky Take the Plunge
By Todd McClamroch in News on Mar 5, 2007 2:53PM
The Chicago Sky mascot, Sky Guy, and the new GM and Head Coach of the Chicago Sky, Bo Overton, took a plunge into the frigid waters of Lake Michigan as part of the 7th Annual Chicago Polar Plunge on Sunday. The event raises awareness and funds for Special Olympics Chicago.
Earlier this year, Overton challenged the Sky mascot to raise $1,000 for the charity, and if he did, Overton would also participate in the plunge. In a matter of weeks Sky Guy had surpassed the $1,000 mark, so both of them joined in the excitement of the annual event. Over 500 plungers participated in this year’s plunge; each was asked to raise a minimum of $100 for the cause.
The Sky are preparing for the May kickoff to their second season in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). Their home games will be played at the University of Illinois at Chicago Pavilion, and the home games will also be aired on WTTW-11. The entire 2007 scheduled is available on their website.
