Free Coffee Days: Contagious and Awesome

By Laura Oppenheimer in Food on Mar 8, 2007 6:45PM

Put this in your Palm; next Thursday, Starbucks will be giving away free coffee from 10 a.m. to noon. Before you start dreaming of your venti-no-foam-soy-vanilla latte, this is only for a 12-ounce cup of regular coffee (that is the "tall" size even though it is actually the smallest size). 2007_2_coffee.JPGThough we don't generally find ourselves wondering where the nearest Starbucks is because they are everywhere, we found out by reading Slashfood that you can text your zip code to "MYSBUX" (697289) to find the three closest stores.

Not to be outdone by Starbucks, Dunkin' Donuts will be having their own free coffee day on March 21, the first day of spring. For 24 glorious hours, DD will be giving out free 16-ounce iced coffee as they "put winter on ice." Iced coffee is their second most popular item after regular coffee, and they served 150 million servings of it last year.

We love coffee, and we love it even more when it is free. Chicagoist heard that the wait at Starbucks was on the longish side last year, so we recommend getting there at 10 a.m. sharp to snag your cup.
