You Really Got Us

We don’t want you all to think that Chicagoist only cares about “American Idol.” So what if we run home from deep dish pizza dinner to make sure we can catch it. So what if we shush our significant other just as Chris Sligh is coming out to work his magic. And so what if the first thing discussed in the office today is whether Stephanie has lost her zing. Doesn’t mean we’re hooked or anything. OK? OK.
So, what the hell happened to our quiet, asexual Sanjaya? Even though the poor boy still can’t sing, we felt a mother’s pride when he came out and rocked it last night. As evidenced by one representative of Sanjaya’s fanbase, young girls everywhere were weeping when Sanjaya showed even a minimal amount of sexuality. In one night he went from our scariest nightmare, to our new favorite. Not that Chicagoist cares, remember, but we were standing up and clapping when he rocked his song. This kid is going nowhere tonight.
Our girl Gina did an OK job. We’re a bit fearful she might be in the bottom three tonight; she looked great and sang OK, but until Pat Benatar night rolls around, we’re going to continue to worry about her.
Tonight? We’re guessing Phil, Stephanie and Gina will be in the bottom three, and Phil will be going home. Sorry, dude, you sing pretty well, but you got no “yo.”
