One For the Record Books

Unless you've been stationed in an underground bunker for the past couple of days, you know about the gloriously warm, sunny weather that has descended upon Chicago.
Our internal clock says it's March, but the thermometer says something a little more like June. Yesterday's high of 79 degrees (recorded at O'Hare) marks the warmest March 25 since 1967, when we topped out at 75. Today is shaping up to be a potential record-breaker as well.
Since 1871, it has only reached the 80 degree mark in March 10 times, the last time in 1990.
These temperatures are 30 degress above the 50 degree norm for this time of the year. And we don't hear anyone complaining.
In completely shocking news, this meteorological perfection won't be around for long; we'll be back down in the forties this weekend. So take it for what it's worth; a gentle, albeit fleeting, reminder of the goodness to come.
