Can't We All Just Get Along?

By Amanda Dickman in News on Mar 28, 2007 8:15PM

What started as road rage ended with a racially-fueled attack on a pregnant woman and her husband in northwestern Indiana on Saturday.

2007_3_mural3.jpgDarian Brown and his wife were at an intersection in Merillville, IN, when two Caucasian men in another car began shouting threats to run all African-Americans out of town. Once the Browns made it home, the men in the other car allegedly yelled racial slurs at the couple, hit Darian in the face with a handgun and pushed his pregnant wife to the ground.

The men later returned to smash in the windshield of the Brown's car and spraypaint that one particular "N" word all over it. They sped away in a 1970s brown Ford with a license plate that read "In God We Trust." Lovely.

The Browns describe their attackers as Caucasian males over 6 feet tall with "very short hair and many tattoos." Hmm, they seem to be hinting at something here, but we just can't put our finger on it.

The police are still on the search for the suspects.

Brown expressed our sentiments exactly: "This needs to stop — it's 2007."
