A truck collided with a CTA bus Friday afternoon. The accident occurred at 12:45 p.m. at 79th and Racine when the truck turned in front of the bus; two passengers were critically injured while five others sustained minor injuries. Offender Jesse Young, 51, was cited for driving his truck without insurance.

Continuing the new tradition of cops getting into trouble, an off-duty police officer was involved in a domestic dispute on Thursday morning. Velvet J. Townsel, 52, allegedly yanked out the hair of her boyfriend's daughter. Townsel's reasoning? The younger woman had left her undies on the bathroom floor. We love this story for three main reasons: mixing things up gender-wise; the hair-pulling occurred at 7:45 a.m., with Townsel said to be intoxicated; and "Velvet" is a moniker beyond sublime.

A bus driver's assistant was arrested after shoplifting from an Aldi in Aurora. 40-year-old Donna M. Reed (no, not that one) asked the bus driver to take her to the Aldi Thursday morning, after all children had been let off. Reed then put hot dogs, cheese, and other cold items into a denim bag and walked out with paying. Aldi employees called the cops on her. She was arrested a few blocks away; the driver was not charged. Reed has an extensive criminal past, including theft, drug possession and prostitution.

Speaking of prostitution, a teenager in the western suburb of Berkeley was arrested Thursday for running a house of ill repute. Kimberley Peterson, 17, allegedly put up posts on Craigslist advertising "beautiful blondes" for a fee of $250. When an officer checked out the house in question, 27-year-old Heidi Mudge purportedly offered her services for $300. (Such markup!) Peterson, Mudge and 48-year-old Gregory Potapczak, who showed up during the investigation looking for sex, were all arrested. Apparently the business runs in the family: Peterson's mother was arrested last year for running prostitution services out of a rented apartment.
