The Crotch Meets Reggie Noble

Attention: All you shoe-loving rap fans, all you jobless hipsters ...

Time to put down the Cristal. Time to take off the ice for a minute ...

2007_4_11_redman.jpgAs Miles Raymer reported yesterday on Crickets, Redman is scheduled to do a DJ set and a meet-and-greet from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at St. Alfred in Wicker Park. So you know, if you don't have anything to do on a Wednesday afternoon, you might as well pop on over.

Chicagoist can only assume this semi-impromptu appearance has something to do with his recently dropped album, which USA Today's Steve Jones called "as funky as ever." (But can you really trust a dude who also, on the same day, referred to Paul Wall as "the grillmeister?" Is he referring to the Houston rapper or your uncle Steve at your family BBQ?) However, the self-proclaimed Funk Doctor's Web site only lists overseas dates for April and May.

Assuming he shows up, attendees should be in for a treat. How often are your Wednesday afternoons spent getting to get up-close and personal Redman in a tiny shoe store? Maybe you can chat with him about what he's been doing for the past six years since his last album and the cancellation of the ill-fated "Method & Red," which probably embarrassed those who watched the show just as much as it embarrassed the two rappers. Even if he doesn't show up, it'll give you an excuse to browse the limited editions Chicagoist's sneaker-obsessed friends are always going on and on about.

So what are the chances Redman will actually make an appearance in Wicker Park this afternoon? Make a guess, or ditch work and find out for yourself.
