Racers to Your Mark

2007_04_18_marathon.jpgRegistration for the LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon has been closed after enrolling 45,000 racers, 5,000 more than raced in last year's race. Those 45,000 racers have just over five months to prepare for this year's marathon as it will be run on Sunday, October 7, 2007.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Chicago Marathon, a race that has grown from just 4,200 runners in its inaugural year to 45,000 this year. It is now one of the premier marathons in the world and part of the World Marathon Majors series.

There is still hope for runners who missed the registration window. There are 85 charity partners who may have some slots available should a runner wish to run for a cause. The list of these charities is available on the Chicago Marathon website.

Runners interested in something a little more manageable than a marathon can should check out the Chicago Area Runners Association for a list of upcoming 5K and 10K races.
