It sure doesn't surprise Chicagoist that someone who's known more for his infatuation with the Cubs than anything would suffer from heart issues. The years of utter disappointment punctuated with heartbreaking collapse -- 1969, 1984, 2003 -- have to take their toll physically.
Ron Santo missed the Cubs - Cards finale on Sunday after being hospitalized for an irregular heartbeat. We entered the hospital after complaining of symptoms following Saturday's game, and could be undergoing angioplasty on Monday.
Following this latest health scare, Santo will likely miss at least the next three series, against Milwaukee Pittsburgh and St. Louis. Said Cubs closer Ryan Dempster, "We want him to get healthy and back to the booth as quickly as possible. He's not only a big Cubs legend but as big a fan as there is in the Cubs organization."
