Continental Loves Its Community

We’re not feeling bad about missing Coachella or Bonnaroo or Virgin or any of the other music festivals going on this year, because Chicago continues to be ground zero for ass-kicking musical fun in the summer sun.
Continental, open barely a year and already the all-night hangout for hipsters all over the city (full disclosure: we spin there occasionally) is leveraging some of the goodwill they’ve formed with local DJs and bands to benefit a good cause.
The Continental Music Fest is taking place on June 23 and 24, on California between Chicago and Superior. (This is excellent news for any bands on the bill that also practice down the street at Superior Street Studios since loading in and out should be a cinch.) All proceeds from the festival will benefit the McCormick Tribune YMCA, a primary source of after-school programming in that neighborhood.
The full line-up of 12 bands and 12 DJs isn’t finalized yet, but a few Chicagoist favorites have been confirmed. We look forward to seeing The 1900's, Suffrajett, Airiel, and The Prairie Cartel revving up their amps along with other acts like The Stills and Ultrasonic Edukators. Considering the clientèle at Continental, we expect future announcements to carry a few more local heavy hitters along with eager up-and-comers ready and willing to help.
