Zoo Animals Get Their 15 Minutes

Flamingo_Land_Theme_Park__Zoo_Kirby_Misperton_1106438843.jpgWe don't search YouTube very often. To be honest, we're not even sure if we can be considered part of the YouTube generation, or, you know, whatever Time magazine is calling us this week. We do, however, think it is actually pretty cool that the site can bring things that may not have been so accessible before to anyone with a computer, like funny videos of animals at the zoo.

The Brookfield Zoo, the Lincoln Park Zoo and the Shedd Aquarium have all had animals become Internet stars (in some cases, porn stars). Because of the way these places are set up there is really not much that can be done to stop the mini-videos from being shot. Most of the videos are amusing, though, or show the animals' good sides.

We think the institutions should embrace the viral videos, which it seems like most have — or, at least, are indifferent to them. We just wish that our VHS tape of a bear peeing on another bear could somehow be transferred to a YouTube-friendly format. Everyone should be able to see that kind of thing.
