MMJ + CYSO = One Fine Lolla Set

As time continues counting down towards Lollapalooza, perhaps a little tease about what’s in store will move the decision one way or the other for those who are still on the fence about attending.
My Morning Jacket is no stranger to collaborating with orchestras – first with the Boston Pops last summer and then with the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra at their Riviera show in October. MMJ has decided to reprise their work with the CYSO on stage at Lollapalooza this year. Rehearsals will take place prior to the August 3-5 event because My Morning Jacket wants to include more songs than had been scored for those past shows.
Guitarist Carl Broemel when questioned on whether the Lolla set will contain new material stated, “I wouldn’t hold your breath. But I wouldn’t count it out.” (Who’s ready to vote him as our favorite politician of the year?) Broemel continued that he thinks that fans of Z are just now coming around to the album due to MMJ not being much of a radio band and feels that those who like the album will enjoy the evolution of having an orchestra behind some of those songs.
It’s not a big revelation about Lollapalooza, but it’s a little somethin’ somethin’ for those My Morning Jacket fans.
