Chicago Olympic Logo Snuffed Out

In October Chicagoist wrote that we were excited that the logo designed by VSA Partners for the Chicago 2016 Olympic bid turned out so well. Sadly, that logo and anything with the logo on it, (including this post) will likely become collector's editions as the International Olympic Committee has ruled against Olympic hopeful cities from using the torch likeness.
The IOC rules state that a logo "shall not contain the Olympic symbol, the Olympic motto, the Olympic flag, any other Olympic-related imagery (e.g., flame, torch, medal, etc.), slogan, designation or other indicia or the distorted version thereof or a design confusingly similar thereto.''
The Chicago 2016 organization is currently working to develop a new logo that fits within the IOC's guidelines. Chicagoist is disappointed as we grew to like the logo but are surprised this was not thought of earlier, doh!
