We're Finally Moving out of Our Terrible Twos!

By Tankboy in Arts & Entertainment on May 16, 2007 3:25PM

We’re getting another year older. In fact, if you measure our age in dog years, we’re about to celebrate our 21st birthday! Yee-haw! In plain old human years, we’re turning three, even though it seems like only yesterday that the city that never sleeps met the Windy City.

2007_05_chicagoistbirthday_216.jpgChicago has been good to us, showing us good times, and providing us with killer content, but the best part about being Chicagoist is knowing we have legions of cool readers who, while they may not always (or even rarely) agree with us, do always make time to come by and visit our little corner on the internets. So we want to give a little back.

We’ve set up a big ol’ birthday party at Subterranean on June 7 with some awesomer than awesome local talent to provide the entertainment. Milk At Midnight’s Who-meets-Flaming-Lips rock will cause the room to shake and shudder; Sweetish’s rollicking indie-pop will brighten everyone’s mood; and We Make Thunder will, well, make a lot of thunder. To top it all off we’ve enlisted the talents of the hottest kids on the block: The Hood Internet DJs STV SLV & ABX will be closing the evening out with their unique mixes. We also want to make sure as much of our readership can make it to the party, so we’ve made the show open to everyone 18 and over! (Don’t worry, if you’re over 21 there’ll still be plenty of booze.)

Of course, it wouldn’t be a Chicagoist party without drink specials, giveaways, and other free surprises, but we’ve got to keep a couple surprises under our hat, right?

So hold the date, tell your friends, and get your tickets today!
