Lollapalooza Last Band Standing Contest Starts

By Julene McCoy in Arts & Entertainment on May 23, 2007 7:30PM

2007_05_lollalastband.jpg It’s time to prove that Chicago has the best bands to fill those two early slots at Lollapalooza. Sure, playing at 11:00 a.m. isn’t the most rocking of hours, but it is a great way to have your sound heard by the masses and earn a few converts. Submit songs in mp3 format and then work those MySpace friends, email lists, and phone trees to get people loving your songs and voting online.

The winning band gets to stay in style at the House of Blues Hotel, receives artist passes for the entire weekend (that includes access to catering), stuff from Gibson, a silver Playstation 2, and promotion, promotion, promotion. Don’t forget to thank your bestest fans with tickets for the day of your show courtesy of the contest. The runner up will also play at Lollapalooza and get that good stuff above minus the accoutrement from Gibson. The other three finalists get tickets for Lollapalooza and some goodies.

Submissions can be uploaded now. Voting begins June 1. The top 20 bands will be chosen by Perry Farrell and other celebrity voters and then another round of online voting starts. But first things first – Chicago, start representin’! We want to see that Double Door show on August 1 stacked with hometown talent.
