Weekend Jaunts

  • 07_05_26_stingrays.jpgGrowing up off the coast of the Atlantic Ocean, we've seen our share of stingrays, unfortunately most still had their barbs, so touching them wasn't something advised. With their barbs removed, you can see, and touch, these graceful creatures at Stingray Bay Brookfield Zoo, First Avenue and 31st Street in Brookfield. Tickets are only $2.
  • We were out of town last year for the Bike the Drive event, but we plan to make it there this year. The 15-mile ride along Lake Shore Drive allows you to enjoy the beautiful winding road while traversing, and becoming a part of, the skyline. Registration is still open for the event, which takes place on Sunday at Columbus and Balbo. Bicyclists own the road from 5:45 a.m. to about 10:00 a.m. The last time to start the ride is 9:00 a.m. Tickets are $40.
  • In the hopes that most weather forecasters were just the best guessers in their class, we plan on heading to the beach this weekend. For some reason, we've had a hankering for some frisbee throwing action lately. Besides, watching those people work out at the Bally's keeps us entertained for hours.
