7-Eleven Celebrates Birthday By Giving Out Slurpees

By Laura Oppenheimer in Food on Jul 11, 2007 2:33PM

As far as we can tell, the only thing better than an ice-cold Slurpee on a hot summer day, is when that same ice-cold Slurpee doesn't cost you a thing. 2007_7_slurpee.gifThat's right kids — today is 7-11, the birthday of 7-Eleven, and to celebrate, they are giving out free 7.11 ounce Slurpees from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. Perhaps a trip to the store at 6754 W. 63rd Street is in order?

For more info on everything Slurpee related, check out My Slurpee Cup. Their tagline is "If you have ever had a Slurpee, you know the euphoria and satisfaction it brings. Only available at 7-Eleven, it is the ultimate drink that cures your thirst and rejuvenates your soul." We don't know about soul-rejuvenating, but we will say "pretty awesome." We did find the section of Slurpee science to be pretty sweet.

We plan on heading over later today to make our "signature" Slurpee; part coke, part cherry (we know, not very original, nor signature). Not all stores are participating, so call ahead if you plan on going out of your way to find a 7-Eleven. Here is a map and list of the convenience store's Chicago locations.
