Hart Davis Hart Scores a Tru Coup

2007_07_Tyree.gifAlthough they made the announcement weeks ago via press release, most of us are just now coming around to the news that local fine wine auction house Hart Davis Hart has hired Tru sommelier Scott Tyree. This is something of a coup in fine dining and fine wine circles. While he was at Tru, Tyree earned "best sommelier" awards in 2004 and 2006 at the Jean Banchet awards. Tru's wine inventory under Tyree was also awarded with Wine Spectator magazine's "Grand Award for Outstanding Restaurant Wine Lists" for the past three years (2004-2006). In 2004 Tyree was listed by Esquire magazine as one of the country's best sommeliers.

Tyree, a 17-year veteran of Tru and Shaw's Crab House, has been looking for a change of scenery for some time. The Hart Davis Hart affords him the opportunity to work a "9-to-5 job for the first time." Tyree's duties at HDH will focus on fine wine purchasing, marketing, and special events like those occasional HDH wine tastings and auctions we wish we could afford to attend. With the experience and awards Tyree gained from maintaining an 1,800 label wine inventory estimated at between 18,000 to 23,000 bottles at Tru, Tyree brings some heavy duty cache to HDH.

Taking over for Tyree at Tru is his second-in-command, Chad Ellegood. Tyree begins work at HDH on August 6.
