Weekend Arts Roundup

Here’s what we missed while we were watching loud, fast planes and asthmatic midgets:
- Bailiwick Rep is working to expand their audience with Hogwash, a family friendly improv show, playing Saturday afternoons through November 17, and a special “Naked Night” performance of Barenaked Lads September 7 where performers and audience alike will bare it all. And it’s for a good cause. (link is NSFW, more or less)
- As foundation work commences for the Chicago Spire, the Trib’s Blair Kamen blows a kiss to architect Santiago Calatrava and Lynn Becker posts a photo essay on his blog.
- Zulkey and Co. return to the Hideout Tuesday night, 7pm for Funny Ha Ha: With a Vengeance! Featured performers include columnist Mark Bazer, author/blogger Wendy McClure and Check Please’s Alpana Singh. Proceeds go to the Neighborhood Writing Alliance.
- Entries in Ten Modern Masterpieces, Chicago Magazine’s new list of the best 21st Century architecture in the region, include the Gary Comer Youth Center, Pritzker Pavilion, the enormous Pritzker House and, one of our favorites, the Sofitel Chicago.
