Chicagoist's "Beer of the Week": Two Brothers Ebel's Weiss

We've been spending an inordinate amount of time at Skylark lately. We think it's the combination of the background music the bartenders play and the tater tots with the three different dipping sauces. Their draft selection also ranks high on the list, but we've already had all twelve selections. So we've decided to highlight one that we've found ourselves returning to again and again.
It's a banner year for the Ebel Brothers of Two Brothers fame here at "BotW." This week they earn their second selection of 2K7 with one of their best-selling brews. Ebel's Weiss rivals some of the best German-brewed hefe-weizen selections we've had the pleasure of sampling. From the smell of sweet bread on the nose, to the golden straw color, to the sweet standby flavors of hefe-weizen (banana, clove, vanilla) it's simply an enjoyable beer. One aspect of drinking Ebel's Weiss that draws us back is that this is not a filling beer. One of the drawbacks of weiss beers for fans of pilsners and lagers is its filling properties. Between the wheat and yeast used in the brewing, weiss beers can sit in one's stomach for a while. You won't find that with Ebel's Weiss. You won't be pounding it back, but you also want a refill when you finish. Did we mention that it pairs perfectly with the mustard dipping sauce for Skylark's tater tots?
With the weather this week showing signs of warming up and staying for a while, this is also perfect weather for you to pick up a six-pack of Two Brothers Ebel's Weiss, Chicagoist's "Beer of the Week."
