Exit the Edens

Attention, people who drive on the Edens Expressway: Your life is going to start suuuuuucking tonight at 10 p.m. North of Lawrence and south of Lake Cook (which ... some Chicagoist staffers might have thought was "Lake Hook" road for, oh, years, having only ever heard it and never seen it), the right lane and the shoulder will be closed, and there will be a 45 mph speed limit. Also, IDOT says:
- The center lane of the Edens will be closed for patching, leaving one lane open from 10 p.m. on Friday night until 9 a.m. on Saturday morning.
- The overnight lane closure will be lifted by 9 a.m. — however, motorists should expect to have the center lane closed on weekend days to allow the concrete patches to cure. At these times the outside and inside lanes will be open until the concrete in the center lane cures.
- There will also be occasional overnight closures of two lanes at the outset of the project starting at 11 p.m. until 5 a.m. from Sunday through Thursday nights to allow for striping and other preparatory work.
It'll be like this until Nov 4.
