An Evening of "Top Chef" Talk and Grub

tc_312_15.jpgThough Sara Mair may not have won the whole kit(chen) and cab(f)oodle, it seems that her stint as a contestant on Bravo's incredibly addictive Top Chef has not been a complete waste of her time; now she has speaking engagements and a wider audience interested in her take on jerk chicken, Top Chef judges and, most importantly, cheese. Perhaps you're a member of that potential audience? If so, then you should be making plans to get to Evanston next week for the opportunity to meet and greet Sara in the flesh. That's right, you get the chance to dish about what it was really like to be on the show as well as the opportunity to try a few of the dishes that Sara, herself, created whilst a contestant. Sara will be at Evanston's Now We're Cookin' Culinary Service Center on Friday, October 5, from 6:30-9:00, cooking up a few of her creations right in front of your eyes, as well as discussing her "true passion": making cheese. Mmm, cheese.

For grown-ups it's $50 for the experience, while for students it's $25. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Greater Chicago Food Depository's Chicago's Community Kitchens program, a free culinary training program for unemployed and underemployed adults in Cook County that prepares students for a productive career in foodservice. Chicago's Community Kitchens students create nearly 2,000 meals a day that are delivered to the Food Depository's more than 40 "Kids Cafes." We like it when there's some kind of good cause, makes us feel better about stuffing our face. If you're interested in attending we suggest you call 847-570-4140 or go to Now We're Cookin's afore-linked website.
