Busy day in these parts, what with the CTA planning on cutting every bus we take to get anywhere. High fives for reader Keven Hisson for sending us these really funny punked CTA posters. (More after the jump.) But on to the extras:

Police still don't have a suspect in Ronald Heard, Jr.'s murder. Heard, the son, godson and nephew of police officers, was shot and killed outside a White Castle on the South Side last Saturday when he came to the aid of a woman who was being assaulted.

Springfield voted tooverride Blago's veto of a 7% cap on property tax assessments.

Illinois Supreme Court Chief Justice Robert Thomas and the Kane County Chronical agreed to a $3 million settlement today on Thomas's libel suit against the paper. Worth the long read.

The Tribune Company is going to start charging $100 per month to its employees who smoke.

The Illinois Orchid Society Fall Show and Sale is this weekend at the Botanic Garden.

Nothing to do with anything, but we got a kick out of it: If you've been wondering what fonts Pat and Vanna like, wonder no more.
