Looking Toward Next Year

Now that baseball fans on both sides of town are officially "waiting until next year," we take great interest in Major League Baseball's tentative 2008 schedule.
The fist thing Chicagoist did was to search for the weekends when the Cubs and White Sox would face off. In '08, they'll play on back-to-back weekends.
The Cubs will host at Wrigley Field June 20-22 before the Sox return the favor June 27-29. With the two series so close together, the crosstown buzz among baseball fans should probably carry right on through for the better part of two weeks.
Will these two series help predict whether either team has post-season hopes? The Cubs took five of six from the Sox this past season and went on to win the NL Central. But the White Sox and Cubs split their '05 meetings before the Sox won the World Series, and the Sox claimed four of six in 2006 when neither team made the playoffs. So basically, it's just about local bragging rights.
