  • 2007_10_12_buffet.jpgFirst item on the agenda is a month away, but a classic case of the early bird getting the worm. The Northern Illinois Branch of the International Wine & Food Society is sponsoring a seven-course dinner November 10 at Bonsoirée. Bonsoirée will do the cooking; IWFS is bringing the wines. Cost is $120 per person, and advance reservations (highly recommended) can be made here.
  • This weekend is going to be a cold one to ride a boat on Lake Michigan or the Chicago River, but that isn't stopping Wendella Boats from hosting a 2-hour architecture tour, with wines provided by Kafka Wine Company. Cost is $57; the tour starts at 3:30.
  • Pops for Champagne celebrates its "EfferFest" Saturday from 3-6 p.m. Champagnes, cavas, and sparkling wines from around the world will be available for tasting, along with speical courses specifically prepared for the event. Cost is $50 per person.
  • Cheese expert Laura Werlin offers tips on pairing cheese with wine at Eno on Monday, as part of their "Eno-versity" series. The class begins at 6 p.m.; the cost is $25.
  • Someone reading this has to like Grotto on State. Tuesday night from 6-8 p.m. they'll be having a $75 per person whiskey dinner, with special guest Chris Brown, the master distiller for Woodford Reserve Bourbon.
  • We love tempranillo; it's one of our favorite red wine grapes. There is a tasting of a dozen different offerings Wednesday at Park Grill. Passed hors d'oeuvres will be served, as well. Cost is $35; the event runs from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.
