Extra, Extra

2007_10_19.ee2.jpgUgh, finally: 28 aldermen are filing a petition to U.S. District Judge Joan Lefkow demanding the City release the names of the most-complained-about police officers. The Sun-Times's spot-on editorial is completely degraded by heinous illustration that accompanies it, from the same "artist" who also did yesterday's ricockulously bad Stroger drawing.

The Book Cellar is hosting "Chicago’s Wittiest Women Writers" tonight. We deeply resent not being invited to participate, but cannot deny the wit of Stacey Ballis, Wendy McClure, Claire Zulkey, Jen Lancaster and Elizabeth Crane. It starts at 7, 4736 N Lincoln.

John Brown and Edward Leak, a former cop, were convicted of first-degree murder this week. Leak paid Brown to kill one of his employees, on whom he had a $500,000 insurance policy.

Pat Quinn is laying the smack down on Blago and Emil Jones. That's something we can get behind...except he's doing it with this hideous website that makes noise and has typos. Quinn is calling out Jones for not letting a campaign finance bill--that the House passed unanimously--see the light of day in the Senate.

And Quinn's not the only one with Blago in his sights (and site! hayoh!): Dick Durbin's not on the Rod Squad today, either. Durbin says Blagojevich and legislative leaders are stalling plans for a suburban airport.

BP's HQs are leaving town. Leaving with it: 3,300 jobs.

On a personal note, I would pay money to hear Eric Zorn say "ruh-roh."
