Get Off the Couch Tonight
By Margaret Lyons in Arts & Entertainment on Oct 24, 2007 6:00PM
Don't settle for another Wednesday of Pushing Daisies, Gossip Girl and Girl Scout cookies that have been in the freezer for months (not ... that ... we do that ...). There's a shitton of stuff going on tonight!
- PostSecret's Frank Warren will be at the UIC Barbara's Bookstore tonight at 7:30 p.m. for a reading/signing/Q&A about the newest PS book, A Lifetime of Secrets. Please, someone ask him how he feels about lolsecretz.
- The Cook County Board's public hearings about the proposed 2008 budgets kick off tonight at the Oak Forest Hospital at 6:30 p.m. If you want to testify, you should "submit 30 copies of any written statement to the committee prior to speaking."
- WBEZ's Worldview and The Economist present a debate abouzzzzzzzzzzzzz—Sorry! Our bad. They're presenting a debate about China's environmental impact. Jerome McDonald moderates; several smartypants debate. 7pm at the Harris Theater, tickets are $15.
- Local legend TJ Jagodowski is the Kate Parker's featured guest on the newly revived talk show The Callback. The show was at the The Gallery Cabaret for a while, then was MIA, and is now at Strawdog at 8 p.m. Parker has interviewed Jagodowski before, so we're expecting and easy banter.
- Adam Zagajewski, one of Poland's "most famous contemporary poets," is reading at the U of C tonight at 6 p.m. You can read some of his translated poems in the New Yorker.
