Chicago Semi-Prepared For Gas Attack

By Alicia Dorr in News on Nov 28, 2007 7:20PM

2007_11_28.sarin.jpgGo figure — if anybody tries to attack Chicago with nerve gas, the city will actually be somewhat prepared.

The city working to improve the amount and quality of our stash of antidotes in case of one. The city will be buying antidotes from companies interested in developing kits to be used if a chemical or biological attack should occur. Money for the project comes from federal funds.

Surprisingly, the city is actually way more prepared than other cities, as we started stockpiling the antidotes years ago. But (and the "but" means forget everything else we just said cause it's a lie) almost all of the stockpiles are about to expire. So really this new push will probably just be replacing the useless stuff. Almost, Chicago. Almost.
