Blago to RTA: No Christmas Cheer for You

The Tribune's "Clout Street" blog is reporting that Governor Blagojevich, whose probably still feeling like the most badass father on the planet after scoring free Hannah Montana tickets for his daughters, will not call lawmakers back to Springfield until January 2nd, effectively putting to rest any speculation that a transit funding deal will get hammered out by year's end.
When the legislature returns, they'll only have 18 days to find a solution to the transit funding crisis, or else the Doomsday scenario proposed by CTA, Metra and Pace will go into effect. Blagojevich told reporters that the state House and Senate "need to be prepared to be there every day to work." Which is rich, considering the last time they were in Springfield to do just that, Blago - true to his "do as I say, not as I do" m.o. - was taking in a Black Hawks game (and assuming he didn't take CTA to the United Center). It's getting to the point to where Mayor Daley might have to stick a foot in someone's ass, and with all the news about his son's business dealings lately, he might just be able to fit a toe in the governor's poop chute.
