Da Coach Sells Some Wine Dis Evenin'

By Chuck Sudo in Food on Dec 20, 2007 4:00PM

2007_12_ditka_wine.jpgWith the Bears' season over before it started, what better way to celebrate the end of the regular football season than remembering the good years (roughly 1985 to 1988) over a glass of vino?

Well, here's your chance. Ex-Bears Coach Mike Ditka has partnered with the Mendocino Wine Company in California to create a line of premium wines that bear his name (get it? "Bear" his name?). The sparkling new South Loop Binny's at 1132 S. Jefferson has an exclusive bottle signing with Da Coach tonight from 6 pm to 8 pm. The cost is $10 per person, and no charge for children younger than 18.

There are five varieties of wine, priced from the reasonable to the "does he think he'll get that much for some wine with his name on it?" "Da Coach" chardonnay and cabernet sauvignon are $12 a bottle, and Ditka's Kick Ass Red, a blend of zinfandel, syrah and petite syrah that will set you back $50 a bottle. We're guessing the chance to call out "Da Bears" to Iron Mike in person will be worth the price.

Thanks Kym.
