Chicagoist Wayback Machine: Christmas

Now that we have a day job and commute to work every morning, we have ample opportunity to sit on the train and get our fifty cents worth reading the Sun-Times. We're huge fans of Tom McNamee's "The Chicago Way" column, as it's one of the few regular features in any of the city's newspapers that successfully reflects on the city's rich past in a way that engages present-day readers.
McNamee's most recent column, on the Chicago Daily News photo archives at the Chicago History Museum and the new book reflecting on them, Chicago Under Glass, is a must-read if only to gaze at the frozen moments those photographers captured back then. Like McNamee in his column. We'll also shut up now and let the pictures do the talking. Each photo also links to its corresponding web page describing the scene.
