The Friday Buffet

It's pretty light this week as folks recoup from the holidays. There are plenty of events starting early next week for gourmands throughout the city.
- Thank you Tasty Dining Networks for doing something with the color layout on your webpage. Now we can actually read that there's a singles dinner for women ages 25-40 and men from 30-45 this evening at Republic on East Ontario. Attention lonely hearts: as of filing this post, there's only one slot for the men left.
- Last month, Adobo Grill launched a two-course, $20 tasting menu every Tuesday at their Wicker Park location. Head there, mix-and-match any combination of appetizer, entreé and dessert.
- Café Matou kicks off its first fixed-price dinner of the year Tuesday with a five-course monster dinner pairing dishes and wines from France's Normandy region. The dinner begins at 7 p.m. and costs $71 per person.
- The Alliance Francaise de Chicago is sponsoring a cooking demonstration and dinner featuring Cok-au-vin chef Vincent Colombet. The Alliance is located at 810 N. Dearborn. The event runs from 6-8 p.m. and cost is $55 for Alliance members; $65 to the general public.
