Break From Cold, But Not For Long

01-27-08_winter_thaw.jpgWhile we’re still waiting for today’s high temperature, the forecast calls for things to warm above freezing -- a welcome relief for dog walkers and CTA commuters in every neighborhood. Tomorrow’s temps will be well above freezing, melting all the snow, and creating the possibility of ice jams and flooding on the Rock and Kankakee rivers.

While we have a bit of a break from the cold, winter weather of late, it won’t last long, as the National Weather Service is currently calling for rain showers late tomorrow, along with very windy conditions. Tuesday, they are predicting we’ll see the return of old man winter with temperatures dropping sharply over the course of the day. Combined with the wind chill, it will be well below zero.

So don’t break our your shorts just yet.
