Teacher Tapes Student to Chair

A teacher at Medgar Evers School on the south side has been moved to an administrative position during an investigation into an allegation that she used masking tape on a special education student to restrain him in a chair when he wouldn't settle down. The kid managed to wriggle free after a few minutes, and he and two other students narced and called the cops and DCFS. The communications director for Chicago Public Schools, Michael Vaughn, indicated that the investigation was a formality and her ass is being kicked to the curb:
"At this point it is unclear why she did something like this but after talking to the teacher involved and the principal, it’s clear that the incident did in fact take place."There is no justification for such an action against a student by a teacher,” Vaughn said.
The teacher just received her credentials last June, and had only been teaching at the school for a week. Obviously -- a seasoned teacher would know you have to use duct tape. Or a jump rope. They need to develop more coping mechanisms in these teaching programs!
By the way, the Chicago Defender wanted to make sure to point out that the teacher was white and the student was black.
