Cañizares has collaborated with Enrique Morente, Camaron de la Isla, Serrat, Alejandro Sanz, Peter Gabriel, Mike Stern, Peter Erskine, Michel Brecker, and The Chieftains. His talent drew the attention of flamenco legend Paco de Lucia, who invited Cañizares to become a member of his septet.
