One Great Sandwich: Hi Tea's Turkey Club

2007_03_hitea_entree.jpgOne of the best new tea shops to open up in the past year is Hi Tea in the South Loop. With over 50 brands of loose leaf tea available for purchase, as well as selections like yerba matte, it's a great place to while away a lazy weekend.

They also make some excellent sammiches where some thought was actually put forth in combining flavors, ingredients, and preparation while keeping costs affordable for their customers. We tend to fall back on the turkey club whenever we visit Hi Tea. This combination of turkey breast, bacon and gruyere, served on a baguette, is put over with the inclusion of roasted tomatoes and a citrus vinaigrette that complements both the acidity of the tomatoes and the crisp flavors from Hi Tea's signature jicama slaw. At $6.95, it's also fit to suit any budget. Which means that you have a few extra dollars to put on that ceramic tea service you've been spying in Hi Tea's display case from the moment you entered the store.

Hi Tea is located at 14 E. 11th St.
