Chicagoist Weekend Blotter

Our absolutely dead last choice of police vehicle if we were on the force by Joe M500

For the sake of brevity we'll skip all the drunken brawls at the South Side Irish Parade and just jump right to what the rest of our city's malcontents have been up to:

A suspect has been arrested in the Crane Tech High School shooting. Devonte Smith is charged with first degree murder, and is being held without bail. Smith is only 15 years old. [S-T]

A 23-year-old woman is charged with stabbing a 16-year-old after an argument about her boyfriend. We're guessing there's a juicy back story here that's being left out. [Trib]

A north side woman got away with the murder of her mother-in-law for almost 10 years -- unfortunately for her, her daughter finally came forward and ratted her out. [S-T]

A man has been charged with suffocating his 5-year-old daughter -- because she didn't pick up her toys. [S-T]

Six students at a Barrington middle school were busted for pot. If only they didn't sell those little baggies in the northwest suburbs. [D-H]

A 17-year-old high school student in Romeoville was arrested after he was found with a "hit list" of 15 other students. He claims it was "a joke". Too soon, dude, too soon. [B-S]

Speaking of highly raised sensitivities, administrators at a school in Lisle are on high alert after they found bathroom graffiti that referenced the Columbine massacre. [D-G-S]

A man was shot to death by police in Rolling Meadows after he came at the cops brandishing "multiple" knives. Unless the guy was a Hindu god, we would imagine "multiple" means "two". [Trib]
