You would think the snow and ice finally melting this weekend would put everyone in a good mood and make us all want to hug each other, but alas, that wasn't the case:
A 60-year-old woman in Carol Stream was found stabbed to death inside her condo. Her son was charged with the crime after he was arrested at the Schaumburg Hooters, a favorite destination of fugitives everywhere. [Daily Herald]
The "North Side Rapist" was sentenced to 100 years in prison, where he will likely get a taste of his own medicine. [Trib]
Drew Peterson is appearing in court tomorrow for a minor issue to finalize the return of his stuff, but apparently it could have bigger implications if he is ever charged. Any armchair lawyers out there want to explain that to us? [S-T]
Police have arrested a group of men involved with a string of armed robberies in Bolingbrook. Drew Peterson was not involved. [Trib]
A 91-year-old Westmont woman who was reported missing last week was found dead in her car way up in Gurnee. [D-H]
A teenage boy was arrested after being accused of trying to sexually assault a 14-year-old girl. We're guessing he didn't come from a real stable home environment. [Trib]
A shooting in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side left one man dead and another injured. [S-T]
"You gonna steal those tots?" Two men robbed a Burbank high school cafeteria at gunpoint and made off with a hundred bucks. The Thomas Crown Affair it was not. [Southtown Star]
