A bunch of people jacked up on jelly beans and lamb-shaped butter got into a bit of trouble this weekend:

Whatever happened to chucking eggs at the front door? Someone(s) vandalized Burlington Central High School in the far northwest suburbs and caused damage to the tune of $10,000 - $20,000. [Batavia Sun]

The Kane County Sheriff's Department netted 5.8 kilos of cocaine and six vehicles, four of which the department is keeping to use as undercover cars. Wow, they can do that? Reminds us of the tragically short lived show Fastlane. [Geneva Sun]

An autopsy technician at the Cook County medical examiner's office stole diamond jewelry right off a dead woman's body, including an engagement ring. Surprise, surprise, the deceased's family noticed the stuff missing. [S-T]

Time to buy investment property in Aurora? Crime there is at its lowest level in 22 years, which, if you've ever been to Aurora, is a significant accomplishment. [S-T]

A man was so pissed about having to pay fines that he threatened to "shoot up" the DuPage County clerk's office. He's now in jail on a $75,000 bond, which is probably about 1,000 times more than what the fines were. [S-T]

Someone blew up a mailbox on the Northwest Side, shooting mail all over the street. We're guessing besides explosives it also involved alcohol and someone shouting, "Dude, that was FUCKING AWESOME!!" [Trib]

Aggravated battery charges against a South Side man are expected to be upgraded to murder after an autopsy revealed his 2-month-old died from blunt head trauma. [Trib]

Four suspects were arrested for a string of armed robberies against the elderly that became increasingly violent. On a side note, Slate recently had an interesting article wondering if three-strikes laws are to blame for more criminal violence. [Trib]
