The Mekons play two shows at Schubas tonight, one unplugged and one electric. We've seen this motley, aged collection of punk upstarts primarily led by by the dual vocal attack of Jon Langford and Sally Timms a number of times -- our personal favorite being when they performed with Kathy Acker a number of years ago -- and while their songs can tend to adopt a certain monotonous tone, the band never fails to entertain. It's rare that one gets the chance to see them in a room of this size, though, so expect these performances to be especially potent.

3159 N Southport, 7 p.m. / 10 p.m., $20, 21+

Holi
In simplest terms Holi, the Springtime Hindu Festival of Colors, celebrates the triumph of good over evil. Local Indian eatery Marigold is throwing their own party in honor of the holiday with a 3-course tasting menu including a number of the restaurant's specialties at a fixed price.

4832 N Broadway, 5:30 p.m. - 10 p.m., $25

Clubs
evilOlive continues to try and secure its place in the late-night club scene with a slightly different tactic for Tuesday nights. The Wig Shop is their attempt to horn in on the rock and/or roll dance crowd with an eclectic mix of punk, soul, and good ol' fashioned rock. The only real competition for this crowd is offered up by Andrew Vonn over at Debonair, but we have to admit we find his mixes a bit too heavy on the glossy metal and too light on the groove. If the kids that dig evilOlive's Monday Rehab are still out on a Tuesday they might find something new in The Wig Shop.

1551 W Division, 10 p.m. - 4 a.m, free, 21+

Lollapalooza
3-day passes for the fest go on sale today for the discounted price of $175. Admit it, most folks would be willing to pay that much just to see the Radiohead headlining set that weekend that is rumored to be announced soon. Tickets are available through the website sans service fees.
