Damned Beautiful, Indeed

2008_04_schorr.jpgA little historical perspective never hurt anyone, and we're especially big fans of the photographic kind.

Camera jockey Larry Schorr has ensured that we'll get our fill tonight at Small Bar, where he'll be presenting a show entitled "The Wild, The Beautiful, and the Damned," to the delight of rock 'n' roll history buffs everywhere. Schorr was front and center for the birth of America's punk tradition in the San Francisco Bay area, and through his lens (and the never-before-seen resulting prints), you'll see images from the first Dead Kennedys show to the Sex Pistols' swan song.

Throw in iconic, visceral stills of The Ramones, Elvis Costello, Blondie, The Damned, The Police, Peter Gabriel and Patti Smith on their respective rises to prominence and importance, and you're talking a treasure trove of musical history.

"The Wild, The Beautiful, and the Damned" at Small Bar tonight, 7 p.m., free, 21+
