Any moment now, Blue Sky Inn will open the doors to its new bakery and café. Located at 4749 N. Albany in Albany Park, the bakery will serve as another extension for the non-profit organization's mission of providing creative, recreational and educational activities to at-risk youth. We dropped in Saturday to take a look.

The photo above shows the main floor, the wall is covered in fabric that Executive Director Lisa Thompson says will be used to showcase artwork fro youth in Blue Sky Inn's 'expressions" program, bakery employees, or "anyone who walks in and feels like hanging something up." The shop, which was previously a hookah bar, has come a long way in a short amount of time. "Earlier this week, this place was stuffed with trash, and the dishes (the previous tenants) left behind were covered in ash," Thompson said. We'll be running an interview with Thompson next week where we discuss her plans for the bakery, her short term plans for Blue Sky Inn, and what you can do to help out.
