151 is Rum, Right?

2008_04_bulls_bucks.jpgSo this is what happens when two teams, out of playoff contention and just trying to run out the season, meet in the week's final season?

The Bulls and Bucks played a game seriously lacking in defense, with the Bulls winning 151-135 in Milwaukee. When asked about the score, interim head coach Jim Boylan quipped, "I thought that was a rum." For a team averaging 97.2 points/game, it's certainly not a number he'd expect to associate with his team's scoring. The 151 points was the highest since 1990 for the Bulls, who shot an unheard of 67% from the floor -- the highest opponent shooting percentage Milwaukee's ever allowed.

Luol Deng led the Bulls' scorers with 32 points on 15 of 20 shooting. Ben Gordon added 29 and the formerly forgotten Chris Duhon had 22 points along with 15 assists.

The Bulls put this season out of its misery on Wednesday, when they host Toronto. We can expect the team's overhaul to begin on Thursday, when John Paxson meets with the coaching staff and likely will relieve Jim Boylan of his duties.

Meetings with the players on Friday may shed some light on who can expect to remain with the Bulls and who will play elsewhere next season. A team many predicted to win the Eastern Conference -- at the very least compete -- will win no more than 33 games. Big changes are in store, or GM John Paxson might be the next one out of a job.
