Shawn McClain's popular West Town vegetarian eatery is celebrating its fourth anniversary (has it been that long already?). Through Sunday, Green Zebra is offering diners a special four-course Chef's Selection menu for $44. To top it off, wine pairings for the dinner will run at a whopping $4 per glass. That is what is commonly referred to as a steal.

The Public Square at the Illinois Humanities Council and the UIC Asian American Resource and Cultural Center are sponsors of a conversation with author/reporter Jennifer 8. Lee (The Fortune Cookie Chronicles) and poet Patrick Rosal (My American Kuniman). The discussion will be held at Jane Addams Hull-House Museum. It's free but reservations are highly recommended by calling 312-413-5353.

HotHouse continues its comeback this evening by welcoming back the Nicole Mitchell Quartet. Mitchell, named by the Tribune in 2006 as a "Chicagoan of the Year" and winner of Downbeat Magazine's "Rising Star Flutist" award the past three years, is one of the most inventive and highly regarded flutists in jazz today. Her quartet consists of Josh Abrams on bass, Jason Adesievietz on vibes and drummer Marcus Evans.

Over at 42° N. Latitude in Lincoln Square, all martinis are $5 from 5 p.m. until closing. we cannot stress enough that if you go, to drink responsibly. At that price, however, even we'd be sorely tempted to drink our martinis in pairs. Wait, we already do.
