An Evening (Or Two) With My Morning Jacket

By Marcus Gilmer in Arts & Entertainment on May 8, 2008 8:21PM

Indie rock superstars My Morning Jacket have recently announced a spate of new tour dates ahead of the June 10 release of their new album, Evil Urges. And we're in luck: Jim James and crew are slated to wrap up the tour with two dates at The Chicago Theatre. You just have to be a little patient. While the tour starts in the summer, the Chicago dates don't happen until mid-October. So far, there is no ticket information for the Chicago shows available from the band or Ticketmaster other than the show dates, but several other shows are going on sale in the coming weeks, so we'll keep our eyes peeled and update you when we know.

We've had the pleasure of seeing MMJ at both festivals and tiny, intimate venues, and they top themselves each time. According to the band's press release, the upcoming tour is labeled as "An Evening With My Morning Jacket," which will include "epic, extended sets." Awesome. We can't wait for them to blow the roof off of the Theatre. In the meantime, catch the band playing Saturday Night Live this weekend and enjoy this amazing version of "Gideon," featuring The Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra, performed at last year's Lollapalooza.
